Piece of Writing Final Improved

Energy drinks, as the name clearly states, are supposed to give you a “boost” of energy. Basically, the difference between an energy drink and sport drinks, soft drinks or regular drinks are the ingredients. What energy drinks have that most other drinks doesn’t have, is a high dose or percentage of sugar and caffeine. Sure, Coca-Cola and Pepsi have caffeine and sugar but a can of 480ml does not have 27g of sugar. 27 grams is about 10 teaspoons of sugar! That’s about 5 sugar cubes per can mixed in with caffeine and other “boost” like ingredients like inositol which is part of the b vitamin group, yet not a vitamin. The effect that sugar gives you in such a concentrated amount and the danger is that it accelerates the production of adrenaline by a lot, just that it lasts for a moment and then it disappears. Inositol is designed to trick the body to think it´s a vitamin process it quicker and send it to important cells in the body. Inositol´s main function or design is to help relay messages within cells in the body (accelerate movement artificially. Within this chemical and others in the energy drinks like taurine and sodium chloride ionic bonds are formed to create the energy drink.

These chemicals of course have an impact on the body that is supposed to give you the boost of energy. If you take a look at the ingredients in both Rockstar and Monster, you would get the impression that an energy drink is a blend between a soft drink and a nutrition drink; and people that have tried the drinks say the same to the taste. They say that the taste in these drinks fall into medicinal or molten sweet tart alike. Like the ingredients, manufacturers say that the energy drinks do give you extra help on endurance and physical performance while most professional doctors strongly disagree. They all say that the energy drink works on its high amount of caffeine and that the other ingredients are not a boost for you, but for the caffeine itself working on the body. Caffeine works by blocking the job of adenosine. Adenosine is a chemical produced by the brain for sleep. When it is blocked, the neutrons in your brain are fired, tricking the body to think it’s an emergency and releasing large amounts of adrenaline, causing your eyes to dilate and causing the liver to release a lot of sugar into your bloodstream for energy. While it causes all this, it also affects a chemical in the brain´s pleasure system, called dopamine, making the body think it has much more energy than it really does. All this chemical energy is produced to create mechanical energy in the body´s movements and capacities at the moment.

Since caffeine in these drinks is so pure and has a large effect on the body, it is not recommended for children under 12 years old, pregnant women or people with heart disease. The effect on the heart that the drinks may produce is dangerous for small children since their weak and little heart may not be able to hold the power of the boost. Since babies inside whoms receive what the mother consumes, it is dangerous for their hearts. They do not have the capacity for even a small zip of these drinks. On the other hand, children that are tall and about above 13 or 14 years old can handle these but not excessively. One every once in a while is ok, as long as no kind of addiction is produced and they are moderate with their servings and portions.

Covering some of the dangers in these drinks can´t is easy so it has to be very hard on the companies and their marketing strategies. For Monster, I think their technique is truly amazing. They basically don´t hide secrets of the drinks, they simply diverse the attention from the bad things. By hosting motocross events and designing accessories and motor bikes, they show the public what´s good about monster and how it helps worldwide athletes and stunt drivers like Travis Pastrana who landed the first double backflip! For Rockstar, I dislike their strategy. They truly hide their ingredients and the bad things about the drink. Monster simply doesn’t talk about it unless their asked, Rockstar acts as if they had no idea. As well, they only sponsor athletes, but they don’t host or show major interest in the sports that they are trying to sell their product through.
Overall, it has been decided. The winner of our epic battle is Monster. Their market is diverse, drawing attention to sell the drink indirectly. The drink also contains less amount and pure caffeine along with artificial flavoring and food coloring. Monster is heading to the top of energy drinks and is trying to make it less unhealthy, that gave it the grand winning prize!

Comments on Piece of Writing

Mathias: tomas did a very good job. He really did show his interest in the project and organized it very well. I like how he put very straight facts into his writing and helps to shape your opinion as the reader. If I were to correct this, I would only check spelling, the structure is great how it is.

William: I really liked reading this. Now I know how energy drinks can be to your body. My correction is to make it more friendly. Relax the mood.

Tomas´ Dad: I really enjoyed reading Tomas´s work. I personally think energy drinks are horrible in every way, so I wouldn’t say anything good about them. The correction I have for Tomas is to be more clear. There were times were you just jumped into an explanation of something you didn’t know was being covered. That’s what I would correct.

School Idea Script

Introduction:

- Have you ever considered why schools are like they are?
- Why they function so strictly but work?
- Have you ever considered, what if all was different?

With our new school, you wont imagine it, you will live it.

We are getting rid of the old, and bringing the new.

Our generation needs to talk, one word at a time.

Because with out idea, you will learn your idea. Teach it to others, and create a whole new type of learning. Finish with the stress schools bring daily, finish with the bells, learn at your pace, and compete with your level.

The standarized tests, and standarizing in schools need to end. You will be able to be standarized much less and if you are, it will be fairly. You actually will be in your category. You will learn with the people that can learn at your pace, no matter your age. You will learn the way you want to learn. We eill provide the help and tools you need. We are trying to relax you at school so so you actually work, and in a better way. You actually will want to learn; beacuse with our school, you learn because you want to learn.

School Idea (ALL SCHOOL WORK)

1. Peer Questions and Answers.
- How will you organize the bell system in a different way, what would you use?
A system in which each student goes to the class they want until the class fills up and leaves when the teacher finishes, not when time finishes.
- How will you be able to choose freely whether to go or not?
A system for signing up. It would be via skype with a cam in the class you are taking.

2. Needs it will Meet.

What a school needs is for the people that attend to learn. For example, CNG´s mission is to prepare tomorrows leaders. Our school would basically follow that goal and make the best of people for tomorrow´s world. this through different courses like economics, english(and other languages), mathematics, world history and cultural classes such as ethics.

3. Motivation for parents, teachers, staff

The enviroment of everything being on a tight schedule would change big time. Practically everyone would choose when to go to school, but still learn everything needed. It would help not intervine with family matters and such events on a regular school day.

4. School main ideas:

- To change the factorization mode
- End with bell systems
- Relax the tight schedule for students
- Change the categorization idea
- To prepare tomorrow´s leaders

How to Give Credit to Images

If you search an image on google you want to use, you have to give credit by

Putting the name or company that owns the image
Put the link where you found the image
You need to pit the copyright of the image

How Schools Kill Creativity

- Kids work better in groups, it builds knowledge
- Institutions are dividing kids into groups and categorizing them which is not accurate
- you can be the same intelectually at any age (a 6 year old the same as a 10 year old)

Two Main Messages:

- What we are told isnt always the truth
- Schools are set up as an industrial system(not good)

Criminal Minds Knowledge Building Notes

Criminal minds knowledge building notes

Some give info of how the girl was seduced, the others explain what they think, others say no, it's victim 2 not 1. Then someone gives a theory so he changed his strategy to kill. Then another detective doubts the theory and finally they collide the ideas together. A person starts a theory because of pictures and starts his theory of why the pictures show certain things. Someone then explains what the previous victim did to prevent and make a theory of why something didn't work.

Ex.

Theory by colliding facts:

They all smoked and now they find that the dose to seduce was given by their cigarettes

Sci-Fi related Artcle (SIRI Voice Control)

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/tech-news/apples-siri-voice-technology-to-dominate-ces-chatter/article2296363/

Two Articles form Star Wars

1. Star Wars in the Rocket City: Inside the science of Episode VI with artificial gravity and Leia's slave costume

- This article talks mostly about a NASA enginner and his thoughts towards the death star. He explains that the gravity of an object this big not being natural is like imaginary or imposible because of the 100 mile diameter of the object. He gives his opinions of how the directors managed this fact and explained he would have enjoyed very much if out of no where the gravity disappeared and everybody started floating. The second part of the article, was about princess Leia´s slave costume. It explained why the teenagers in 1983 liked it so much because it showed as if Leia was a lave at Jabba´s palace.

2. Aerodinamics in Star Wars

- The great part of the articles talks about the aerodainamics and space fighters in the movie. A NASA expert doubts and questions why rebel fighters have wings, when wings are used to push air, when space doesn´t have air. It is also very unlike the way that the motors power the aircraft, since in real life, it takes a much bigger and powerful thing to mpove in space; the beam used in star war fighters is the technology used in present day military jets.
