3 Best Pieces of Work Journal

This year I chose my three best pieces of work that I did not only on how I did academically on them, but how I enjoyed doing them and what other thing than the academic buble I learnt. I chose my three best pieces by analyzing what I had learnt with each one. My final conclusion was that the three best pieces I have done are: My science cat of the future project, my spanish short story writing and my social studies podcast on medieval europe. I had to go a step further than what we learned in class with these because they also included working in teams and working with technology tools. I learned new leadership skills and how to perfectly function Keynote and Mac applications.

Portfolio Journal

If I were to look at my protfolio as a stranger, I would get some imideate opinions about Tomas Urrutia. First of all, I would think of him as a sort of serious but kind and fin person to be with. I would think he is artistic, likes to think and maybe enjoys school. Also, I would think he is dedciated. The portfolio portrays him as a loving person, also fun and diverse. It has an introduction which tells us about Tomas, which would also leave an important first opinion. I think he is fun and clearly likes dogs and tennis. The potrfolio would also say he likes sports and being outdoor.

Improve Work Journal

The piece of writing that I think and want to improve is the written part of my science "Battle of the Beverages" project. I think I could improve this piece by making it more reader friendly, relaxing the mood and tone to attract the reader even more. When I wrote it, I feel that I didnt comunicate very nicely to the reader and maybe set a stressful piece or part in to the influence part of the written part.

My Passions Journal

My true passionate hobby is airsoft. I really enjoy this sport and really wish that they played more of this in Colombia. Ive been playing it since I lived in london and really did stick to it. I turned 14 on February adn this saturday, im having my birthday party. As you can imagine im planning an airsoft war with my friends. I really enjoy this and hope to still be able to do it.

This peculiar passion can be reflected in my portfolio as my outside school sport or activity. It has been my hobby for 5 years now and i can share this fun with my father and my brother which also enjoy the sport. since it is considered and athletic and sportive activity, this is how I plan to reflect it on my

How Have I changed This Year as a Learner?

When I first walked into my eight grade english class i was scared. I was told she was a different type of teacher but I didn´t know what to expect. Ms.Shawn turned out to be one of the best teachers I have ever had along with my 3rd Grade teacher in London, Mr.Otoole. In this class mostly, I have learnt to learn in different ways. I now know what helps me learn and what doesnt, stradegies to learn in deifferent ways and what kind of person to work with. All this relates to bloom´s taxonomy and the logo of the CNG learning center, "If I cant learn the way you teach, can you teach the way I learn?". This is actually the ONLY class in which I have learned how to learn, and it has and will help me a lot.

In other classes throught the year, different types of knowledge learning have presented themselves. For example in math class, I have had to adapt to learn in different ways, for example teaching myself with the textbook, when my teacher isnt very clear or when I truly do not understand the concept. This ocassion has presented itself several times through the year, not necessarily in mathematics but in other classes as well. I have also been able to experience the not so nice feeling of when the teacher truly doesnt know how to teach and never really puts effort into it. This year, It happened to me in Spanish class. Sonia is a nice person but she doesnt seem to like her job or her students, which makes everything a lot harder for everyone. I really havent learn anything in the year that has passed except for a basic law in the spanish language. It was truly a horrible experience and a waste of time.

Real Learning is... Journal

Real learning for me is when you actually are interested and understand the topic that you are learning. To really learn is to actually take in what has been taught to you and be able to explain and adapt it to other situations in your life. Although you might learn stuff and ace an exam, maybe you will forget it in the future and never mind about it. where as you learn to read and from that, you might evolve into different abilities to read and ways to do it as well. For me that is real learning, for you to understand, for you to enjoy it and for you to enjoy learning it.

On the other hand, enjoying learning falls into another category that helps real learning. I seriously think that if you have a good method and you are actually interested in going on to learning more in depth of the topic, you are truly learning. I have had a much easier time with good grades in classes that I enjoy, understand and that have a teacher with a method that is good for everyone and can adapt t difficulties. Overall, that is my conclusion of good learning. A good method that you understand and a method you enjoy.

Airsoft (Journal Homework)

Airsoft is a sport in which 2 teams fight against each other with 6mm plastic pellet shooting guns and try to reach a certain objective. When we started playing as a hobby, we realised we could not keep depending on 2 guns that one of us had and spare bbs form his brother. So we went around an looked for a way we could start playing more profesionally. The friend I mentioned was called Jack, his brother was actually playing profesionally. He had his own team and everything. We stared playing with Jack´s brother´s team and had real fun. Then one year later, we started as their minors for leagues we then got our own guns and started off. We didnt get very far but it was a start. Now in Colombia its very hard because its not practiced; but I keep my hopes up so I can do something.

Military Interest (Journal Homework)

Since I was small, I have had an interest for the military and military related things. I used to pretend I was a soldier and play or with little action figures. Until I moved to London. In London, me and some friends there had this same interest. We started hearing about airsoft from other kids at school and that let us have a sport that we REALLY enjoyed. Paintball did the same thing, but we still were more attracted to airsoft. We then addapted it as a hobby and starting taking it from a sport we played in the weekend, to a passion.

Journal About Animal Abuse

I want to write about Animal Abuse because I find it very disturbing and extremely cruel.What mostly impacted me in this issue, wasa case in Turkey, when 3 teenage boys

soaked a dog in gasoline and lit him on fire. This poor dog survived and is now 

in a shelter with 3rd degree burns all over his body. Even if the dog had bitten

any of them, this is absolutely NOT acceptable. Imagine if the dogs were superior, and they

came up to you with a bottle of gas and lit you on fire? Fun right? NO. This is why

I find this extremely important, making people aware that animals also sufer and that

they need and must be respected. The three boys that burned the dog didn´t even receive a penalty

or consequence. 

My audience Behaviour(what was it like)

How Did I Behave as an Audience?

How I would call it, is that I need improvement. I talked too much during the conference. That was my problem. I got distracted by everything and I always had to see a comical side to what the speaker was saying. I laughed and talked. Other than that, I did well. For another time, I don’t just need to check my behavior, but I need to check who I sit next to. In MUN, I sat down next to two of my friends, and it was a mistake. We got distracted by everything and made jokes. Next time, I need to be careful.

"For All My Future Projects" Journal

For all following projects, I will meet the deadline and avoid these problems by asking questions in class and making sure I understand the assignment, during class, not during the weekend. I will make sure I have my work done and revised  before close to the deadline and be very sure that it is not left for the last minute.

My "Why I Should et an Uograde Journal"

I need an upgrade on my project because I did not get 4 on every benchmark. I feel like I was lazy when I had a chance to get a 4 on everything or that I did not understand what had to be done to achieve the perfect score. I need an upgrade because I feel perfectly capable of getting the 4, and I did not get it the first time because of misunderstandings. Now I feel totally capable of understanding 

The Worst Audience Behaviour

In my opinion, the worst audience behaviour is talking. This distracts everyone around you and takes your focus away from the thing you should be paying attention to. It also makes the performer(s) feel like your not interested and makes an awkward atmosphere for them, which can change the quality of their performance.

If I were a God...

If I were a god, schools would not be how they are. I think that homework is not the answer, that there should not be homework because in my opinion the only thing this does, is cause stress, take time away from students, and also cause students to go to sleep very late. I think that after school, students should be socializing, taking a break ftom school. They should play sports or other hobiies that they have. Also, classrooms should have a comfortable learning space; not chairs and desks. Puffs or other comfortable things with lap desks should be the answer.

Problems or Issues Typically Found in a Middle School

Some Issues or Problems typically found in a middle school often involve different groups of friends. You may find the guys who are only into sports and are fit BUT they aren’t doing well academically. There are also the popular girls that only care about themselves but again, they do not do well academically. There are also the ones that do well academically, but they are social outliers. The different groups have a misbalance;* all have their positive and negative thing per individual.
